Hi there! Thank you so much for creating for me. I hope you have fun and I’m excited to see what you come up with!

Below is a big dump of thoughts on what I personally enjoy about the ships I’ve requested, but none of it is meant to be prescriptive; the only hard requirement is respecting my dnws. Everything else is up to you, so feel free to follow your muse :) Also, a lot of my ideas/prompts will be fic-oriented because that’s how my brain works personally, but I’m very excited to receive art and other mediums for this exchange! Fandoms:

Danganronpa SeriesI binged the first two games veryyy recently and I am… still kind of processing them? But I do have many many feelings about it, oh god. My favorite characters are Byakuya and Nagito, because apparently I just really like the annoying antagonist types.

(spoilers in this section for the first two games!)

Fandom DNWs:
- Works that rely heavily on knowledge of UDG, the DR3 anime, or other supplementary materials. I don’t mind spoilers so feel free to reference canon events for your ideas—just know I haven’t played/watched/read them as of writing this letter, so I want to avoid being too confused as a result.
- Sonia reciprocating Kazuichi’s feelings

1. Solo: Togami Byakuya
My original fave! I knew I’d like him as soon as he was introduced <3 He feels like quite a consistent character, with his arrogance and coldness and blunt disdain for others—and that consistency is part of what I like about him. He might be the richest kid in the universe but he never comes across as sheltered or spoiled; in fact, he has quite a bit of agency and is always prepared to fight for what he wants in his own way. I also think he has lots of potential for interesting character development despite being generally a huge asshole. I like how we see in THH that he’s pretty bad with people, and it’s portrayed as a flaw he has to learn a lesson from. He has too much of a superiority complex to take people seriously; he can’t empathize with them and actively disregards their feelings and opinions; and that arrogance nearly gets him killed in the later trials. Though I don’t necessarily ever see him becoming “nice” I really like the idea of him becoming less of a lone wolf as he learns to work with people like Kyoko and Makoto in the Future Foundation.

Prompts:
- Byakuya coping with the fall of the Togami family: losing his original life’s purpose, as well as the immense power/status he once had in the world.
- Snippets of his backstory, competing with his siblings in Togami Hunger Games hell…

2. Solo: Komaeda Nagito
I don’t even know where to begin with him omg. He’s such an unpredictable force of nature in the story, and seems so single-minded and unrelatable in his motives, but his backstory in the free time events reveals him to be a fairly tragic character. He is so fascinating and also responsible for some of the most incredible, jaw-dropping moments in the game. I just really want to get into his head some more, or watch him make yet another insane decision that Changes Everything.

3. Solo: Sonia Nevermind
I love Sonia!!! I think she’s such a fun character and I want more of her. Her interest in serial killers and the occult, her implied freaky side, her adorable awkward cursing/slang usage, the bond she forms with Gundham, etc. I don’t have many specific prompts in mind but I’d be super happy with a character study, or a slice of life / coming of age thing about her adjusting to life away from Novoselic.

4. Hinata Hajime/Komaeda Nagito
I really enjoy komahina but I will admit, I am still forming my thoughts on what exactly I want from them. I think a good chunk of my DR2 experience was basically getting repeatedly stunlocked by Some Shit Nagito Did, which is probably the #1 thing I have in common with Hinata. The incongruence and discomfort Hinata feels when Nagito does something he can’t understand, the sense of missing who he thought Nagito was when they first met, combined with Nagito’s own beliefs about ultimates and talent, and the open sincerity in his attitude (when he’s not plotting something, that is) which is naturally rejected because of the lack of trust… There is something about this that feels kind of inevitable and tragic and doomed yaoi flavored, but I’m not sure if that’s truly the direction I prefer? They could be really interesting in post-canon too, in a scenario where Nagito wakes up, with Hinata struggling with being partly Izuru in the aftermath. For now I will say that anything goes! I am a blank slate waiting to be filled with ideas. Missing scenes, random AUs, canon divergence, darkfic, hurt/comfort, absolutely create anything that you think works for them and I will be seated for you 🙏 The only thing I will say I do not want is pure Izuru Kamakura x Nagito, meaning Izuru as the emotionless god who is the ultimate talent and all. This is mainly because the god x worshipper dynamic (or similar) isn’t as fun for me as the alternatives, and I like Hinata a lot better than Izuru anyway.

5. Komaeda Nagito/Nanami Chiaki
CHIAKIIIIIII. MY GIRL. This is very much a potential-based ship for me. I like the contrast between Chiaki as the passive bystander/observer, limited by her nature in the ways she can directly impact the story; vs Nagito as the person with the most agency among the students, always pulling strings and pushing the narrative forward, outwardly complacent at times yet never satisfied enough to stop taking action. The whole situation with Nagito’s murder-suicide plot and Chiaki’s sacrifice in response is just so interesting. Personality-wise, I feel that Chiaki, with her purity and open unjaded kindness, might be the person who could come the closest to accepting Nagito the way he is. And in a way, Nagito's actions were what finally pushed Chiaki to claim her own agency in revealing herself as the traitor, in making the choice to sacrifice herself so the others could live.

I think there are some cool canon divergence ideas that can be done with them. What if Nagito had successfully discovered Chiaki was the traitor? Or what if she had been able to reveal herself earlier? What would Nagito have done with that information? Could Chiaki have convinced him not to orchestrate that whole murder-suicide plan, to fight for hope in a different way? I do think that Nagito could have been convinced to help Monomi and Chiaki undermine Monokuma had he known the full truth, and that he would’ve rationalized it to fit his ideals as well. Couldn’t the successful rehabilitation of the remnants of despair, including Nagito, be called a form of hope in itself? How would Nagito, the ultimate gay boy, react to having an AI girlfriend?

6. Fukawa Toko/Togami Byakuya
Against all expectation, this became one of the most fascinating dynamics in THH for me. Like an unholy trainwreck you cannot look away from. For one, the amount of time they were spending alone together? They were definitely fucking, yes?

Personally I have a hard time seeing them in anything resembling a healthy relationship with each other; I’m also not too interested in an endgame where Byakuya genuinely falls in love with Toko. They are arguably their worst selves with each other and that’s what I like about them! What interests me specifically is the unhinged, borderline abusive dynamic between them that develops in the pressure cooker environment of THH, where presumably only one will be left alive, and Byakuya knows Genocider Syo is a serial killer with an interest in him, etc. The one that showcases Byakuya’s capacity for cruelty, and Toko’s inferiority complex where she interprets that cruelty as honesty and likes him all the more for it. Despite how pathetic Toko seems, I like that the power dynamic doesn’t feel too unbalanced mainly because of Genocider Syo, who could straight up scissor stab Byakuya at any time… meaning Byakuya likely has way less control over the situation than he’s convinced himself he does. It’s like he has a feral pet he is dragging around (who surely won’t bite him anytime soon) :3

Prompts:
- Exploring their THH relationship more closely; the offscreen moments between them; the differences in Byakuya’s interactions with Toko vs with Syo.
- An AU where they have a similar type of dynamic could be interesting! Rich and powerful heir Byakuya is Genocider Syo’s next target, but somehow he realizes this beforehand and becomes determined to expose the killer first.

7. Naegi Makoto/Togami Byakuya
I think my Byakuya/Makoto feelings are the complete opposite of my Byakuya/Toko feelings because. Whenever Byakuya was mean to Makoto in-game, I just felt really bad for Makoto 😓 like, he’s such a sweetie pie, he does not deserve that! Byakuya, be nicer!!

The progression of Byakuya’s free time events is interesting as well, with Byakuya at one point offering Makoto a position as his secretary, but ultimately concluding that Makoto is a capital L Loser who he cannot ever understand or associate with. In a way I think Byakuya honestly did like Makoto at this point, or see something worthwhile in him, it’s just that his own worldview and biases wouldn’t allow him to admit that. So this is a pairing that I think could go really nicely with Byakuya’s later development, where he has to accept a new world in which he’s pretty much a normal person like everyone else, and by extension actually learns to develop respect for people who aren’t himself.

It’s definitely a ship I lean toward in post-THH era—or even pre-THH and pre-memory loss where they were in school together, watching the world gradually go to shit around them. I’m just very fond of this imagined future dynamic where amidst the hellscape they’ve found themselves in Byakuya realizes that he does care for Makoto quite a lot, and starts making a clumsy effort to do better in his own way (and also has a massive crisis about this, all while Makoto blinks at him in innocent confusion). Makoto can stay being the very nice boy that he is <3

Prompts:
- Post-THH: working for the Future Foundation together; adjusting to the outside world; missionfic; dealing with inconvenient feelings
- Makoto heroically puts himself in danger on a mission and gets himself in trouble. Byakuya has several aneurysms about this.
- Byakuya decides he’s going to court Makoto, ritually, Togami-style. Makoto is convinced Byakuya’s coming down with something.
- Pre-THH: what was their school dynamic like? How did things go down as they watched the world plunge into despair?

Honkai: Star Rail (Video Game)The HSR rarepair extravaganza!

Fandom DNWs:
- Caelus. Please use Stelle instead of Caelus or omit TB entirely.
- Modern/mundane AU fic. For AUs I’d prefer some sci-fi or fantasy elements even if they are minor.

1. Sparkle/Sunday
I’m still 100% convinced that Sparkle was flirting with Sunday with all the chicken wing boy talk. The difference between how she speaks to Aventurine and how she speaks to Sunday is so funny. Who could resist a guy rocking spikes on his wings, indeed? I like the contrast between their personalities, and I totally think Sparkle could be somebody’s manic pixie dream girl if she tried.

2. Clara/Yunli
My two barefoot physical counter dps girls! I really believe they could hit it off and I would love to see them interact. Again there’s a nice contrast in personalities here with Clara being a more quiet and reflective mechanic/engineer type, while Yunli is a bold, brash fighter, but both of them have pretty steady and perceptive temperaments at their core. I can imagine Yunli teaching her to fight if they ever meet on the Xianzhou; Luka and Svarog have already visited, after all. Maybe Clara visits years later, for the Wardance or something else, and then they get to have their meet-cute like Yanqing and Luka did. If you go for this ship, though, I’d prefer them to be aged up at least to late teens!

3. Herta & Sunday
Or Herta/Sunday! Any interpretation of them is great, romantic included, but I’m mainly going for the snarky coworkers vibe that we got a taste of in canon. Herta and Sunday are my two favorite HSR characters, so I’m very happy that they interacted. I love that Herta can’t stand the way he talks to her, and that Sunday immediately starts judging her asocial/carefree style. Also, it’s canon that Sunday dislikes people who are frivolous, while Madam Herta can’t get along with control freaks… I think they could have the funniest trainwreck of a dynamic ever if they were forced to work together for real. To quote my friend they should be handcuffed together and set upon the city <3

4. Herta/Stelle and Herta/Ruan Mei/Stelle
This is a category of ships I like to call Freaky SimUni Shenanigans :3 I love that Stelle is pretty much Herta’s lab rat, and the Simulated Universe provides such endless possibilities for juicy concepts. I honestly could imagine Herta getting overly attached to Stelle as one of her pet projects, and having to deal with Stelle being one of the only people fiery enough to resist her. And Ruan Mei has canonically manipulated/mindwiped Stelle into doing her bidding for her own selfish reasons…

I’m also insanely compelled by these concept designs for Caelus/Stelle, in which we appear to be one of Herta’s puppets? Perhaps a vessel custom-built by Herta to contain the Stellaron? I think it’s such a cool AU idea. How would Stelle being one of Herta’s puppets, with her body specifically constructed for such an economical purpose, change the way she relates to the world and everyone else? Especially if she retains the personality/instincts of Stellaron Hunter TB, and can sense the disconnect between her current body and her former self. Between Herta and Kafka I also think this would give Stelle the mommy issues of a lifetime and that’s just beautiful.

5. Cerydra/Hysilens
Oh cerysilens my love. I was all in on Cerydra/Hysilens as soon as we got their drip art; I thought Hysilens was so beautiful and loved the whole chess theme Cerydra had going on. In addition, I was extremely compelled by the promise of a knight-ruler dynamic with intense undying loyalty on one side and boundless ambition on the other, where the knight apparently? Kills their beloved by the end? Such incredible doomed yuri vibes, so much potential for toxic goodness. And after 3.5, they might be my favorite HSR ship overall!
(spoilers for 3.5 story)I love that they leaned into the codependency of the relationship from Hysilens’s end. She’s been wandering alone in the dark for so long, and latches onto the first bright light she sees, even if it ends up being a flame that scalds her. Cerydra is the person who saved her and gave her a purpose, but she’s also the one who made Hysilens the face of such bloodshed and brutality when all Hysilens wanted was simply a feast, a home… Of course she’s responsible for everything she did in Cerydra’s name, but in the end she’s a simple fish with simple desires :(

I read Hysilens as someone who doesn’t care much about the morality of things outside her own sphere, but feels strong emotional attachment and loyalty to a select few, like Cerydra and her siren sisters in the past. So the reason Cerydra’s sacrifice of the (npc) Chrysos Heirs was the last straw for her was because she knew those people, she fought alongside them and feasted with them. I loved that they went through with having Hysilens kill Cerydra and didn’t make it some kind of fakeout or secret grand plan (as I feared they might). It was an option presented by Cerydra, but in the end Hysilens had a choice between herself and Cerydra and she chose herself. With that said, I feel that Cerydra’s character was a bit underexplored and I want to understand more about her ruthlessness/ambition and the reason behind it. We know from promo materials that she loves and dotes on Hysilens, but we didn’t really get to see that in the quest, or to see how it intersects with her goals.

6. Yanqing/Yunli
Yanqing and Yunli are such an excellent, classic rivals to lovers / meet-ugly ship… They remind me of the first ships I ever liked as a kid, back when I realized I was apparently hard-wired to enjoy the enemies to lovers trope. Truly Het Star Rail at its finest lol. I love that Yanqing (especially after getting humbled by everyone) tends to be very polite and mild-mannered and gracious with people, but Yunli is the only person who instantly makes him act childish and snark back at her. I love the contrast between their personalities (take a shot every time I say this…) and the fact that they clearly have a lot to learn from each other in terms of dealing with people. I love that Yunli went from stealing his sword because he wasn’t worthy of it to promising to make him one! Just like with Clara/Yunli, I’d prefer them to be aged up a bit if you go with this ship, but I also wouldn’t mind something where they’re dealing with crushes on each other in or near the Wardance timeline.

Death Note (Anime & Manga)Unbelievably fond of Light Yagami and all the horrid shit he gets up to. Your Honor, that’s my favorite serial killer right there.

1. L/Yagami Light and L & Yagami Light
tfw you kill the only person who could ever truly understand you
and that’s how it was always meant to be

Prompts:
- I am absolutely feral about Yotsuba arc Light for no good reason. He feels a good deal more honest/emotional when he’s lost his memories, and he’s someone who has been put in a Situation (though it’s one of his own making), and I think L is generally at a loss for how to deal with any of this which is awesome. I also loved the faux detective buddies dynamic they developed in that arc, ostensibly working together even if L never really trusted him, and I can’t get enough of it. Light being L’s detective assistant, L feeding Light’s thing for praise, them still playing mind games through it all <3
- I think the whole "L fake enrolls in university to spy on Light" arc would be really fun to explore further in fic
- canon divergence: alternate paths the Kira case could have taken, and how L and Light would have responded.
- casefic: L and Light being detective buddies together, similar to Yotsuba arc Light and L.
- AU: in which L and Light maintain their canon mindgamey dynamic, but the stakes are way lower (leading to comedy/fluff potential).
- Emotional manipulation / seduction arc, where one of them spots some kind of emotional weakness in the other and hones in on it ruthlessly. For the sake of the game.

2. Amane Misa/Yagami Light
Light/Misa has aged like fine wine for me <3 I want these two as fucked up and complicatedly unrequited as possible, and I want Light to hate every second of it. Alternately, these two also look really hot together so art or even fic of them being a power couple together would be amazing as well. Maybe as Outsider POV fic on their relationship?

I’m very drawn to scenarios where Misa has significantly more agency than in canon, and the way that affects the power dynamic between them. Part of what interests me about Misa is her potential as a disruptive force; in the early story, she holds a TV station hostage in the name of Kira, shakes up the L/Light mindgames, and has her own motivations and way of thinking that don’t fully align with Light’s. This forces him to contend with her as a wild card he can’t fully control, to flatter/placate her and occasionally end up relying on her powers as well. I’d love to see that kind of dynamic explored more (whether in canon or an AU), where she retains a certain level of unpredictability rather than becoming just another pawn on Light's board, and he finds himself depending on her despite his better judgment.

The Radiant Emperor Series - Shelley Parker-ChanI love Wang Baoxiang, I am feral over Wang Baoxiang. Wang Baoxiang is like a character that was precision manufactured in a lab to appeal to me personally. He is the perfect blend of intelligent, competent, pathetic, perceptive, self-aware, tragic, in denial, petty, vindictive and mean that my heart desires in a fictional man. Wang Baoxiang put me in a reading slump for 3 months because I realized I’d been sleepwalking through every other book on my list and would never find another series that could rearrange my brain chemistry in such a way. I love Wang Baoxia

1. Third Prince/Wang Baoxiang
This is such a fascinating and tragic ship that ticks all the right boxes for me. I am having such a hard time verbalizing the emotions their story gave me when I read it, but I love that Wang Baoxiang was the only person who could truly see the Third Prince for who he was, the only person who was willing to call him by his name instead of his title in the end. They were so fundamentally hopelessly doomed just by the premise of how their relationship/weird-ass situationship began, but through all of the deep-rooted pain they were harboring, they managed to form this human connection with each other that they’d both been missing in their lives. And I really do think that because of that they both loved each other in their own way. auuughghghhh. In terms of fic prompts, I’d really enjoy some missing scenes for their relationship, maybe what the Third Prince was thinking as he fell for Baoxiang and how he dealt with it. Or, exploring what would’ve happened if their relationship were allowed to progress further, or how the Third Prince would’ve reacted if he learned the truth.

2. Esen-Temur/Wang Baoxiang and Esen-Temur & Wang Baoxiang
As you can see, I am waiving my incest DNW for this! With all my heart I truly believe there should be more Wang Baoxiang brocon in the world, whether it’s one-sided pining/tension or a relationship study of the two. There are so many insane layers to Wang Baoxiang’s feelings about his brother, and the way it ties into his complexes about himself and the world, even the Third Prince managed to clock that shit. No I don’t care if Wang Baoxiang or the narrative thinks he’s straight and not into his brother. It’s just more interesting this way 🙂‍↕️

3. General Ouyang/Wang Baoxiang
Shelley Parker-Chan wrote a better manifesto for this than I ever could. Another pair who fundamentally see and understand each other’s pain, even if they can barely tolerate each other. They absolutely should have continued this resentful situationship until shit went down in book 1. Happy with pretty much anything for this pair, and honestly anything for the Radiant Emperor series in general!

Thanks so much for checking out this letter and creating for me this FIAB--I look forward to seeing whatever you make!
